State-of-the-Art Technology

Thanks to recent advances in medical technology, people with cancer have many reasons to be hopeful. At the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, we offer patients with the latest innovations in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. A few of these technologies include:

TrueBeam Linear Accelerator

TrueBeam from Varian Medical Systems is an advanced radiotherapy system that opens up treatment options for some of the most complex cancers in areas such as the head and neck, lung, breast, abdomen and liver. The TrueBeam system's advanced imaging and powerful treatment modes allow doctors to tailor treatments specific to your particular cancer.

Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)

This technology tracks a tumor’s motion in real time. This enables therapists to accurately position patients and deliver the radiation dose directly to a targeted area with sub-millimeter accuracy for better outcomes, fewer side effects and less damage to healthy surrounding tissue.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (CT and PET Scans)

MRI, CT and PET Scans represent the latest in imaging technologies. They provide detailed images of the body through cross- sectional and three-dimensional photos. MRIs use powerful magnets and radio waves to determine if a tumor is cancerous. The PET scan pinpoints cell activity, and the CT scan uses special x-rays to obtain many images from different angles to determine cancer growth on tissues or organs. The CT scan provides the exact anatomic location of tumors within the body.

Advanced Surgical Procedures

There are many types of surgeries used to diagnose, stage, treat and cure cancer, often combined with other types of therapies or treatments. They are also used for reconstructive purposes and pain management for some types of cancer. At Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, our medical teams work with patients to determine the best course of cancer treatment for them.
