Individualized Services
Individual/Family Counseling and Education
Oncology-certified nurse educators, care coordinators, and oncology social workers are available at no charge on an inpatient and outpatient basis from the point of diagnosis and throughout the illness experience.
Patient-to-patient Program
The patient-to-patient program provides opportunities for patients to speak with other patients who have volunteered and have been trained to be a part of this service. Cancer patients are matched as closely as possible with volunteers of similar diagnosis, age and gender. The volunteers provide support through listening and sharing experiences.
Cancer Resource Centers
The Cancer Resource Centers offer books, brochures, articles and videotapes.
Individual Nutritional Counseling
Individual nutritional assessment and educational services are available through a registered, licensed dietician. These services focus on the unique eating and nutritional challenges faced by persons living with cancer and their families during the cancer experience. Goals of nutritional counseling are to maximize the body’s ability to respond to cancer treatment and to minimize nutritionally related distress from side effects of cancer treatment. If nutritional counseling is not covered by insurance, there is a fee.

Spiritual Support
Florida Hospital is unique among many hospitals because of it
s emphasis on spirituality and its role in emotional, mental and spiritual wellness during an illness. Florida Hospital recognizes that comprehensive health care embraces the whole person -- body, mind and spirit. When the burdens are heavy, you do not have to carry them alone or face them unequipped. Spiritual support is provided at no charge by a team of chaplains who are available for the primary purpose of ministering to the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families.
Chaplains are health care professionals who bring all the resources of spiritual and pastoral care to help you and your family cope with and adjust to your cancer experience in a way that is comfortable for you, respecting the beliefs of all individuals. Through personal caring, our pastoral team demonstrates God's love throughout the spectrum of the human experience. If you are seeking pastoral counseling, prayer, a sacrament, or connection to your own religious community, let us help. In the hospital, ask your nurse or dial “0” for the hospital operator to request this one-on-one support.
For times, dates, and locations on all support groups, call toll free (866) 328-6417 to be connected to the cancer center location of your choice.
