Making a Difference for Patients with Thoracic and Lung Cancer

At the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) offers thoracic cancer patients access to comprehensive services and advanced technology.

The Thoracic Cancer Program at the FHCI presents multiple therapy options.  Our multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists and our excellent support services staff help heal each patient's mind, body and spirit.

What is thoracic cancer?
Thoracic cancer includes many different types of cancer involving the thorax or chest region. Our team of experts is trained in all types of thoracic cancer care, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer and mesothelioma.

Each year, more than 215,000 new cases of lung cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. In Florida in 2008, lung cancer and bronchus cancer were the most frequently reported cancers, with nearly 17,400 cases diagnosed.

At the FHCI, we’re working to improve the prognosis of lung cancer patients through innovative diagnostics and treatment options.

Thoracic Cancer Team
Our team of primary care physicians, thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, medical and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, and pathologists work alongside oncology-trained nurses, clinical research nurses, patient educators, social workers and other cancer specialists.  This multidisciplinary approach delivers powerful and effective treatment for better patient outcomes.
