Comprehensive Care

We are driven to make a difference in the lives of each patient we serve. Our care providers focus not only on the disease, but the whole person - providing educational, emotional and spiritual support.

As one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state, the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) provides a full range of services, including the latest in detection, prevention, treatment and research.

Our medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and surgeons collaborate to provide you with coordinated care.

Nationally Recognized Care

Cancer Detection, Treatment and ResearchThe Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is an exceptional cancer care program for residents of Volusia and Flagler Counties. We pursue national designations for the center as a whole and specialty certifications for our physicians and support staff.

The Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and Florida Hospital Flagler centers are designated by the American College of Surgeons - Commission on Cancer (CoC) for providing the latest in oncology medicine.

American College of Surgeons - Commission on Cancer

If you or someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, you're faced with many important decisions. One thing you won't have to worry about is finding the best possible treatment. That's because the finest cancer care is found at a Commission on Cancer (CoC)
- Approved Cancer Program
.

American College of Surgeons - Commission on Cancer

Cancer programs earning recognition from the CoC provide high-quality cancer care. Only one in four hospitals treating cancer patients receives this special approval. CoC accreditation recognizes the quality of comprehensive cancer care available at a facility and gives patients access to all of the various specialists involved in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Receiving care at a CoC-approved cancer program ensures:

  • Quality care close to home
  • Comprehensive care presenting a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment
  • A multi-specialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options available
  • Access to cancer-related information, education and support
  • A cancer registry that collects data on types and stages of cancers, treatment results, and offers lifelong patient follow-up
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care
  • Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options

This designation is only awarded to facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment. To meet the standards necessary for Commission approval, each cancer program, and the organization that controls it, must undergo a rigorous evaluation process and a review of its performance. To maintain approval, facilities with approved cancer programs undergo an onsite review every three years.
